Los Angeles – Team LA18 looked pretty in pink Saturday Oct. 17 at the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk at the Microsoft Square in L.A. LIVE. As the exclusive Asian media sponsor of the American Cancer Society event, LA18 cheered on and connected with more than 10,000 participants of the 5K fundraising walk. American Cancer Society also welcomed LA18’s Evening News anchor Christine Chiang on the Making Strides stage, where she had the opportunity to address the crowd. Chiang reminded attendees to spread the message of hope, while expressing gratitude to the brave survivors. She said: “Thank you to all the survivors for being an inspiration to us all and serving as an important reminder that there is hope against breast cancer.” Chiang introduced – and later interviewed – Chinese breast cancer survivor Vivian Chan, who shared her personal story of survival with the crowd.
As longtime supporters of American Cancer Society, LA18 aims to raise awareness of breast cancer and to educate the Asian Pacific Islander community on the deadly disease. LA18 shares American Cancer Society’s goal of preventing and finishing the fight against breast cancer. In 2015, 231,840 women are expected to be newly diagnosed with breast cancer in the U.S., according to American Cancer Society. 40,290 are expected to die. LA18 will continue to join American Cancer Society against this fight against breast cancer until the number is 0.
