Summer is fast approaching in LA.

Here are seven best artisanal ice cream shops to cool your stress in Los Angeles:

Birthed in LA, Wanderlust Creamery boasts of its colorful, cultural flavor creations from Sticky Rice + Mango and Japanese Neopolitan resembling a globe to Ube Malted Crunch, made from purple yam. You can get your scoops on either a regular cone or a purplish, ube cone also made from purple yam. Be on the lookout because you might find this deliciousness in LA Smorgasburg on Sundays!

2. Salt & Straw

A stranger to no one, this popular creamery based in Portland, Oregon, features handmade ice cream using local ingredients. You can get them in a cone, a cup, or a pint for late night binging (which I think is the best option!)

3. Creamistry

Various locations in LA
True to its name, this is one of those liquid nitrogen ice cream places where you can see the fog coming out from below the glass window. Claiming to satisfy both “healthy” and “indulgent” options, Creamistry has six different categories of flavors and toppings to choose from.

4. Scoops Westside

3400 Overland Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90034
I daresay Scoops is the OG of handmade ice cream in LA. In 2005 when artisanal ice cream was scarce even in the diverse hub of LA, Scoops opened and shocked ice cream fans with nontraditional flavors like chocolate wasabi and brown bread. Scoops Westside is a second location to the original one opened in Melrose, but its influence and flavors continue to expand, along with the number of its locations around LA.

5. Mashti Malone

1525 N La Brea Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90046
If Scoops was the OG artisanal ice cream parlor in LA, Mashti Malone probably paved the way for Scoops’ success. Booming since 2002, this old school ice cream shop is popular for using its signature Persian ingredients like rosewater, saffron, and ginger.

6. Saffron & Rose Ice Cream

1387 Westwood Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90025
“100% Persian ice cream with a modern flair,” this small ice cream shop sandwiched between other shops on a Westwood street also serves creative Persian flavors like Rose, Saffron, Lavender, and Jasmine (’tis a dream come true for flowery flavor lovers like me).

7. Sweet Rose Creamery

Various locations in LA
Find your best classic Salted Caramel ice cream here. And this Basil flavored ice cream. Or olive oil.
