Exclusive Sneak Peek: Museum of Ice Cream – L.A.

*Disclosure: I am writing this about an hour after my visit to the museum. If I sound more hyper than usual, let’s blame it on the sugar.*

Okay, Angelenos. Prepare to have your wildest ice cream fantasy come to life! The Museum of Ice Cream opens in the Los Angeles Arts District this Saturday and runs through May 29. I had the privilege of getting a sneak peek before the opening. I know… journalist perks, right? But I’m not here to brag – I’m here to share! A picture is worth a thousand words, so I’ll hush now, and show you five reasons YOU should go to L.A.’s MOIC.

1. It Has Always Been Your Dream
The Museum of Ice Cream reflects every ice cream-lover’s dream. A popsicle jungle? Check. Sherbet room? Check. Ice cream sandwich swing? Check! Surely, everyone has dreamt of this at some point in their lives?! The original pop-up MOIC opened in New York last summer – but L.A.’s version is a whopping four times bigger. Plus, it offers brand new attractions, including the banana split room and a room dedicated to California. Ahhhhhh… feast your eyes!

2. Fear of Missing Out (FOMO)
If these pictures aren’t enough to convince you, FOMO will. When I first heard the MOIC is coming to Los Angeles, I instantly turned into Veruca Salt from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. I wanted a ticket and I wanted it NOWWWWW – especially after hearing tickets sold out within hours in New York. On top of that, the museum will only be open for a limited time! I was deathly afraid of missing out on this *possibly once-in-a-lifetime* opportunity. For those of you who don’t have a ticket yet… aren’t you afraid?

3. The SPRINKLES
Have you ever dipped your body in a pool of sprinkles? As of today, I have! Now I can die with no regrets… (Okayyy, they’re pretend sprinkles – but it still counts!) Fact: The pool is filled with 100 million sprinkles, which are made of antimicrobial plastic – so they won’t melt in your hand (or any other place)! They are cleaned daily.

4. Instagram
Two words: Instagram Gold. By now, thanks to me, you’ve already seen plenty of pictures of this wondrous museum. But you know what will make these photos even better? YOU! C’mon, admit it. You want to show off to your friends – and the world – what THEY are missing. Or maybe you just pure-heartedly want to share how much fun you are having? THEN AGAIN, maybe you want to just rub it in everyone’s faces. Either way, you’d want to use the hashtag #MuseumofIceCream.

5. Ice Cream, duh
At the end of the day, it’s all about the ice cream. Visitors get tastings of ice cream and a few other delightful treats (and surprises). In addition to frolicking in colorful dessert-themed rooms, you get to learn the history of ice cream and how it evolved. So much continues to happen in the ice cream world right now! I mean, have you tried liquid nitrogen ice cream?? Heaven.

So was L.A.’s Museum of Ice Cream everything I hoped for? YES. I am a strong believer in the saying, “take a break and have an ice cream cone”. Okay, that’s my own quote… but what I’m trying to say is: sometimes, a simple treat like ice cream can lift your mood and benefit your overall mental and physical health, ultimately making the world a better place. So go ahead. Dive into that pool of sprinkles. Enjoy an ice cream or two. YOLO.
