APEX (Asian Professional Exchange) Interview – Jimmy Zhong

APEX (Asian Professional Exchange) Vice President of Operations, Jimmy Zhong stops by to talk about the organization’s upcoming events – the leadership conference (Oct. 1) and 23rd Annual APEX Awards Gala (Oct. 29).

Established in 1993, the Asian Professional Exchange, or APEX, is a local nonprofit dedicated to the diverse goals of the Los Angeles and Orange County Asian American community. The three foundational pillars of APEX are professional development, community service, and cultural awareness. The organization’s goal is to address professional, charitable, and cultural concerns of unique importance to the Asian American community and provide an opportunity for Asian Americans to develop, refine, and achieve their full potential as future community and corporate leaders.

APEX Leadership Conference:
The 2016 APEX Leadership Conference is an all-day event that focuses on advancing the development of young professionals. Our theme this year is “Reinvent, Redefine and Rediscover.” There will be several developmental workshops covering topics such as salary negotiations, public speaking and others that will be led by specialized professionals and ongoing resume review sessions throughout the day with experienced HR professionals. During our luncheon, we’ve also invited a keynote speaker to share his experiences with us. It is a great opportunity for professionals/students to develop their skills, network with experienced professionals, and get their resume reviewed.

APEX Awards Gala:
The format of the Gala this year will be different from previous years because we are doing away with the banquet dinner and the majority of the program to give our guests more time to mingle and rub shoulders with VIP attendees. Guests will have the chance to snack on hors d’oeuvres and enjoy our sponsored liquor while they network and enjoy our live entertainment. Those who want to take a break from the main event can also enjoy our silent auction, photo booth, live caricature portraits, or browse the museum exhibits. Since our Gala is taking place on Halloween weekend, guests have the option of attending the Gala in either masquerade attire or appropriate costumes. We’ll be posting some recommendations and guidelines for costumes on our web site and social media.
