At present, there are 2 million Filipino immigrant residents in the US, which is 4.5% of the total foreign born population in the US, making Filipinos the fourth largest immigrant group in the US, after Mexican, Indian, and Chinese immigrants.
45% of the Filipino immigrants reside in California, and 6% in Hawaii. The rest resides in New York, New Jersey, Illinois, and Texas each of them has 1%.
Most Filipino has higher income compared to US born households. Filipino households have a median income of about $53,000, while Filipino immigrant households have a median income of about $83,000.
The growing Filipino immigrant population in the US, and elsewhere in the world, helps the massive financial remittances to the Philippines during the past four decades. IN 1980 the remittance to the Philippines was less than 1 billion but in 2016 it had increased to $26 billion.
